Barking Seals

Not sure what the deal is, but the baby hasn’t slept well in the past three nights and this means that mommy and daddy haven’t slept well in the past three nights.  I’m feeling SO INCREDIBLY DRAGGY this morning.

It doesn’t help that both Jeremy and Josiah sound like they’ve swallowed a family of seals and are hacking and coughing up both lungs.

I just want to crawl back in to bed, but I’ve got to run to the store and pick up some Mullein – it s a herb that is FABULOUS for soothing the respiratory tract and works WONDERS on coughs.

And I’ve also got to mail out a few packages of product for Simple Choices.

My Mom agreed to come and watch my barking seals while I ran around and so as soon as she gets here, I’m off.

I hope you have a good day.

Have you checked out the Simple Choices Products?  And check out the $10 off coupon code……MERRY10……when you buy $20 or more of product.

Wrap Up – FINALLY!

I’m finally getting to the last day of our Wish Trip and while I think that no one really cares about our flight home, there were enough things that I want to make note of and remember that even though it was over a month ago, I’m going to go ahead and wrap it all up.

We had to have our luggage out in the hallway on the Friday night by 10pm or else we had to carry it with us and let me tell you, luggage for 7 people….you don’t really want to be carrying that around especially when you have two adults, one weak teenager, one mostly helpful teenager, a curious child with ADHD, a useless but fun loving 4 year old and a 30lb baby! It’s enough work just to get ourselves from point A to point B without thinking about and wrestling luggage as well.

The weather was bad the whole night and the boat shifted and pitched and rocked. While it was the coolest feeling, I was also awake to feel it and the awake part of that equation…not so cool!

On Saturday morning, we had to be down in the restaurant for breakfast by 6:45am. We made it there by 6:50am and so that’s a win in my books!

IMG_2985

We were TIRED! See the CRANKY baby! Cranky babies are fun to travel with, NOT!

IMG_2988

Jeremy was pretty sad that the cruise was over and he whined and moped his way through breakfast.

After breakfast, we were scheduled to disembark at 8am and so we lined up and eventually got off the boat. We went through the cruise security, picked up our luggage and got onto the bus to head back to the airport. We got to the Airport around 10:30ish, needed to re-pack a few things and then attempted to check in for our flight.

Unfortunately, we were not allowed to check in until 4 hours prior to our flight and so we needed to waste some time. Yup, our flight wasn’t leaving until later that afternoon and WHEE!!!!!! we were hanging out in the Orlando Airport OH THE JOY!

IMG_2992

It had been such a good trip and at the same time we were so ready to go home.

IMG_2993

We walked around a bit, we hunted down some gluten free food, we looked through the stores, we walked some more….and finally the time was close enough that we could head down to our gate.

I had really been hoping that Judah would stay awake until we got on the plane and then sleep the whole first plane trip but it didn’t work out that way.

IMG_2994

Siah was done by about this point and fortunately, the people that were all around us had also been on the cruise, with children, and completely understood Siah’s limp frog routine on the floor….fortunately it was a fairly quiet performance and so we just left him to have at it.

IMG_2996

We waited until everyone else had boarded before we got on…I figured it would help (everyone) if we weren’t on the plane for an extra half an hour.

IMG_3001

Judah woke up about half an hour after the plane took off but Siah had HAD it and he slept HARD for most of the flight from Orlando to Denver.

IMG_3007

We had a two hour layover in Denver and seeing as Jon used to work in the Denver Airport, we went to a little taco stand that he knew of….the food was very yummy and between eating and looking for souvenirs, the time flew by fairly quickly. Pretty soon we were waiting at our gate for the flight to Vancouver…

IMG_3017

The flight was just a short flight and there was no movie planned but when the flight attendants heard that Angelica had been on a Wish Trip, they wanted to make this flight home special for her. They showed her the movie listing and got her to choose a movie as the in-flight movie. That was pretty fun. Towards the end of the flight one of the attendants came up and asked if Geli and the kids would like to see the cockpit after the flight landed. Jeremy and Geli were really excited about that and so when we landed and everyone else had left the plane, the pilot brought Jeremy and Angelica into the cockpit…

DSC_0175

It was a pretty neat experience…

DSC_0177

And a great way to end the trip.

Jon’s parents met us at the airport and drove us and all our luggage home.

We got home, dumped everything inside the front door, threw pajamas on everyone and jumped into bed, so thankful to be sleeping in our own beds.

It was an amazing trip and we were so thankful to have been blessed by the Children’s Wish Foundation. This is and was truly the experience of a life time.

Magnets And Gas

So there I was…..doing pretty good. I posted every day for a while and then…BAM! Life kinda took over!

But, It’s all okay NOW!

Last Sunday we had some people over for lunch and one person brought their super cool magnetic necklace, block, toy thingy. This thing is so cool.

It was getting passed around and looked at and played with and somehow 5 of the little tiny magnetic balls got lost. I managed to find 1 of them which left 4……I’m pretty good at Math, aren’t I?

I wasn’t too worried because I had swept every square inch of my floor and I didn’t figure that Judah had been around when it was getting passed around and so there was no way that he had gotten into or near any of these tiny – BUT STRONG – magnets.

Everyone left and I said that I’d keep a look out for the other 4 magnetic balls and carried on my way.

Monday was just a normal day and Tuesday looked like it was shaping up to be more of the same…..until the afternoon. I went to change Judah’s diaper and when I did……something looked oddly shiny and most definitely out of place. Yup, It was one of those magnetic balls.

I was a bit shocked and super upset because if there was one…what’s to say there wasn’t more than one and how would I know that two magnets hadn’t stuck together inside of his intestines and were going to cause some major problems….if you know me at all, I went straight to the “worse case scenario”. It was pretty sad. I couldn’t fathom a million hour ER visit and so we called our family Dr to see if they could possibly fit us in. They couldn’t so then we called the walk in clinic and seeing as he was happy and had no fever and didn’t seem to be in any discomfort, they said to bring him in first thing in the morning and they’d check him out and send us for an X-ray. Of course they gave us the whole “fever, blood, blah, blah, blah speech – do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to the ER” spiel.

Long story short, on Wednesday morning, we hit the clinic at 8am….hit the X-ray facility at 9:am and were back at home at 10:30am waiting to either hear or not to hear…in this case, no news was good news.

As soon as I got home, Siah met me in the garage complaining about a sick tummy. This was weird because he was fine when I left. Over the next hour, he got progressively worse to the point where he was sitting on the floor crying in pain. When asked where it hurt, he kept pointing at the lower right side of his abdomen…..heck, between cancer, ADHD, ODD, No Gluten, No Dairy, No Soy and now possibly a Magnetic Gut…..heck, lets just throw some appendicitis in there as well.

Jon took him up to the clinic and fortunately the wait time was only about half an hour. After about 15 minutes, Siah burped about 4 times, and then “miraculously” his tummy ache went away.

And just to be safe, Jon did stay to see the Dr. The appointment went a little something like this…

Dr: Nice to see you guys again. This little guy didn’t swallow any magnets, did he?

Jon: No, and he burped about 15 minutes ago and then everything stopped hurting…..so sorry for wasting your time. My son has gas.

Dr: Well, it’s always good to get it checked out anyway.

but you all know he was thinking…..”stupid parents, bringing their kids in because of a little gas.

And then basically, my week just kind of blew up after that.

In all seriousness, I feel a bit traumatized about the whole hospital thing. When we found the magnet in Judah’s diaper, all I could think of was which hospital should we go to? And what about Jon’s new job and how would I handle caring for the kids by myself and would it be better to go to Children’s or to be closer to home….and what might they have to do to Judah if there were magnets stuck inside of him…..and how would we deal with the whole Gluten Free thing and well, it was not fun….

The whole hospital thing with Geli has not played nice with my emotions and I hate being confronted with how “unstable” I feel over the possibility of a hospital visit. Not Cool, cancer. NOT COOL!

The rest of the week didn’t have any medical craziness in it, but we did pull apart Jeremy’s room, the girls closet, the garage, the boys room, the TV room, ALL (as in every single toy that we own) the toys, and our storage closet. It was quite the undertaking and yet…..we did it!

This is the boy’s room that is right beside ours, down stairs in the basement. We currently have all three of the boys sleeping in this room. Fun times, there! (oh, the wall border and color….original to the house. not my choice, just haven’t changed it yet, but I did want to mention that I do NOT like the decor…carry on, please)

We made two dump runs and put away 15 separate bins of toys. No, they are not all HUGE boxes of toys, but all the toys we own are separated out into their own groupings…..Hot Wheels, Mr Potato Head, Playmobile, Little People, Infant Toys, Wooden Blocks, Tinker Toys….you get my drift.

We’ve put the majority of them away and I think that will cut down on the mess in the rooms. That’s the idea any way. We’ll see how well it plays out over the next couple of months.

Here is Jeremy’s upstairs room…

(I have NO Idea why it’s so stinking small. I thought I used the same camera on my phone, but obviously not…sorry about the mini view…just squint and then it should be all good! and again with the house’s previous occupants decor….lovely, ain’t it?)

The carpet is a bit thrashed but it’s the original carpeting from 15+ years ago and it just needs to get replaced, so other than a quick vacuum….I’m not even trying to clean that sucker.

Probably an even bigger miracle than just cleaning things out…was that we also managed to finish off each day of cleaning with a totally clean house.

Do you ever start to clean something and then find that the job is too big and you end up with a mess at the end of things that you pulled out, but have no current home and so you end up with a big a mess just in a different location in your house. Yah, it was my goal to not have that happen. YAY US!

Part of my push to get this done was because Jon starts his new job tomorrow morning and it was my hope that if we cleared things out and got rid of a bunch of junk that it would make it easier to keep things clean. Again, I’m really hoping that’s the case. Only time will tell, right?!?

What are your tricks for keeping a clean house? Do you have any tips to share?

A Whole New Level of Craziness

Things have felt a bit intense over here recently and I feel like I’m going non-stop from the moment I crawl my OH-SO-TIRED self out of bed in the morning, until the moment I flop into bed at night.

Now to be completely honest, I shut down for the evening around 8:30-9:00pm on a “normal” night and then Jon and I sit on the couch and watch a show or two and then I do the whole “flopping into bed” thing.

So I’m not on the go ALL DAY, but boy it sure feels like it. And it’s been worse over the past few weeks because my babies have been sick. Josiah brought home some lovely virus from the Cruise ship (YAH OVER A MONTH AGO) and he was sick for a week-ish and then I got a sore throat and cough and then Judah picked it up and then just as he was getting better…..both Judah and Siah managed to pick up another bug from somewhere.

And those two little boys have been CRANKY!

And Judah’s not sleeping (not at night or during the day) and he’s wheezing quite a bit and I’m using Eucalyptus Cream on his chest 4 times a day and using a Castor Oil pack on him twice a day and trying some homeopathic medicine twice a day away from the Eucalyptus….and between his clinging and whining…..when I sit down at the end of the day….I’m so DONE!

Unless I’m holding him…..this is typically what Judah has looked like for the past week or so….It’s about as awesome as it looks….blurry photo and all.

Whiny

He seems to be a bit better today than he was yesterday and I’m hoping that tonight is better than last night….Hello 3:30am until 5:30am – it was nice seeing you!

Jon has spent the greater part of this week Job Hunting and it seems like his efforts have paid off. He should have the contract in his hands as of Monday, but he has been contracted to do a great job for the next three months. Hopefully, there will be more work at the end of the three months, regardless, I know that we will be okay. He should start on Monday November the 14th. Yah!

I’ve been working on making a bit of grocery money in my spare time (HA HA HA HA!) and I have a few things put up in an Etsy shop…with a few more things to come….I just need to take pictures of the products.

If you see something that you like, you are more than welcome to contact me personally and we can work out payment details….I know that some people don’t like to pay for things online and that’s totally cool. I understand!

If you’re are interested in checking it out, please click here. I’ll be adding new things over the next few days so be sure to check back.

I have planned to “MAKE” time tomorrow to sit down and pound out the rest of our vacation. I can’t believe it’s taken so long to get to it. Life has just been that crazy busy for us! It’s mostly good, but I’m a big fan of quiet, peaceful, SLOW times. The business gets to me after a while. I crave the down times and lately they have been elusive.

Routine & Advice

Well, today was the first full day of school for our older 3. Angelica and Alexandra are in High School and Jeremy is in Elementary School in Grade 6. Siah and Judah are at home with me.

It seems odd to me that I’ve got such a HUGE spread from my 1 year old to my oldest in Grade 9; but that is what happens when you’ve got a 7 year spread in between the 3rd and 4th child.

I am SO looking forward to getting back into a routine of some sort. There is something just so comforting about knowing what to expect and when to expect it. The past 14 months have been anything but routine. While I normally look forward to September and the newness and routine that it brings, I find that this year, more than ever before, I am craving the comfort that routine brings.

When the older kids headed off the school this morning, the two littles and I headed out to the grocery store. It’s never “fun” taking the kids shopping, and this morning was no better; but it was different. Different because this is a NEW SEASON…..and I have a NEW PERSPECTIVE. It’s amazing how a life threatening disease will impact you both negatively and positively.

I’m looking forward to doing things with the boys. I’m looking forward to establishing new routines and to the give and take of learning. Them learning how to behave in different situations and places; and me learning to read them and to know when and where to take them and at which times…..it’s a whole season of learning for everyone.

The shopping trip today would have been infinitely better if Judah would just stop screaming. He has this unbelievably ear piercing shriek and he kept screaming over and over and over. The people around us would put their fingers in their ears, I’m assuming to stop the ringing…..it’s that bad! And I’m not sure what to do? How do you tell a baby to stop screaming? My current method is to firmly tell him “no” and to gently cover his mouth to stop the screaming. I’m not interested in smacking or flicking and he doesn’t take a soother. He’s only 14 months old and……..? Yah? Anyone? Anything? He’s been doing it for a while but it has never bothered me before; but then I’ve spent the past year mostly at home and so, I didn’t really think anything of it.

I think he learned it from his older brothers. When they “disagree” on something….there tends to be a bit of shrieking; and while I can talk to Jeremy and Josiah, or put them on time out, or send them to their rooms…..it’s a little different for a baby, no?

So, what says you? Any advice on the shrieking? And what do you think about routines?

Ambleside

Last Tuesday we woke up and it was just another day.

This summer has been a bit of a bummer. It has not gone exactly how we had planned or expected and while nothing terrible has happened, it’s not been as relaxing as I’d hoped!

First Beach Experience?

Around 9:30am, I decided that if the kids and I could get the house cleaned and packed and ready to go by 11:30am – that we’d head out to the beach. At this point, I still wasn’t sure which beach I would head to as they are all about an hour away from us, but I was determined that we were not going to just sit at home and do nothing for one more day.

The kids were pretty excited and we managed to get everything ready and done just after 11:30am and so off we went.

Arrival

As I pulled out of the driveway, I was still unsure about where we should go…I was contemplating 3 different beaches…White Rock, Spanish Banks and Ambleside.

In the end, Ambleside in West Vancouver won out mostly because I could park and be on the sand in about 20 steps and with 5 kids in tow and all our gear – the close proximity to the beach, the parking spot and the bathroom were key factors in my decision.

Toes

Traffic was NON-EXISTANT and we made it there in just under and hour. The weather was not AMAZING, but neither did it suck. It was one of those days, where it was cloudy, but there was still the possibility of getting a burn if you didn’t take the right precautions.

As soon as we hit the sand, the boys were gone, headed straight for the water. Jeremy stopped long enough to point out a good spot that he figured I should put the blankets down on and I agreed, it was a pretty good spot.

In the Water

We laid the blankets out and put the baby on them and he instantly crawled the edge of the blanket and picked up handfuls of sand and hucked them ALL OVER THE BLANKETS! At that point, I moved him over into the middle of one of the blankets and then took possession of that blanket. The girls shook all the sand off the other blanket and ATTEMPTED to keep it sand-free…….between the baby and the 3 year, it was a losing battle. I didn’t even try to stop him from loading up my blanket and to be honest, I just didn’t care.

The kids played and played and played and played.

Headed to the Water

The weather was perfect….warm enough that you could just wear a tank top, but cool and cloudy enough to keep just about everyone else from coming to the beach.

The kids tried to go in the water and the girls went in past their waists…..crazy kids. Josiah went in but decided that he didn’t want to go in, but then fell in and so that was that.

He came up and got a towel from me but from that point on, he was a sandy mess….it was…..AWESOME! sort of….

The kids were playing so nicely together and except for the occasional squabble between Jeremy and Josiah, it was the best couple of hours that we’ve had in a while.

Working Together

I was able to just sit and then every once in a while retrieve Judah and bring him back to the blanket….and then he’d start crawling back towards the water again stopping every now and then to pick up some random object and put it in his mouth.

The kids splashed in the water, made a sand wall, dug a hole, buried Jeremy, and played on the playground. We ate lunch and had snacks and went to the bathroom and the only mildly upsetting time was when we lost Josiah for about 90 seconds. He had come back with me (from the bathroom) and was right behind me. I guess, when we walked over the cement wall and onto the beach, he stayed on the wall and walked back along it towards the bathroom. I made it back to the blanket (which was about 10 feet away) and sat down. Talk to the girls about how the baby was when I was gone, turned around and Siah was gone…..Xani and I ran around like chickens with our heads cut off and fortunately, the lady next to us spotted him on the wall back by the bathrooms…..I had a short little chat with him and after that, he stayed pretty close.

In the Hole

The biggest downside to the day was when Jeremy decided to not feel well about an hour before we had planned to come home. He was complaining of a headache and an upset tummy and stopped playing, wrapped his head in a towel and lay down on the blanket. Then he wanted to go and sit in the van and was moaning loudly about needing to barf.

Downtime

After that, We packed up pretty quickly and headed home….unfortunately, the traffic was just starting and we had about an hour and a half drive from West Vancouver back to Langley. FORTUNATELY, Jeremy slept the whole way home and that seemed to help a little. He never did end up barfing (Thank God!) and by the next day he was 100%, so who knows what his issue was????

Traffic Going Home

It was an awesome day and we will definitely be headed back there before the summer is over.

Round Up

So, I have a few photos and videos to share with you….and so I thought I’d try to throw together a montage….or basically just a list of pictures and videos with some (less than) witty banter kinda wrapped around it…..

Last Sunday, my brother Tim and my sweet nephew Max popped over for a quick visit….Max is just SO darling and he’s smiling and coo’ing up a storm. He is just one of the most darling little men in my life.

Earlier in the week…..like possibly on Monday or Tuesday, Jon and I took the kids for a walk and when we got to the boardwalk there were young owls up in the trees. It was SO cool to see them so close. They were screeching if they felt scared and we tried to be as quiet and respectful as possible, but between Jeremy and Josiah…..we weren’t as quiet as I’d have liked to be….

IMG_2166

I think that it was Wednesday that Jack came over for a quick visit while Debbie ran some errands. Judah and him were having so much fun pulling the diaper wipes out of the container. They just kept coming and coming and coming…

On Thursday, the boys and I went for a walk. We go for walks to entertain the boys, to wear them out, to keep them from destroying the house……and to keep me from getting any fatter…..

Just across the bridge, on the path close to our house I came across these mushrooms. Aren’t they cool looking? Anyone have any idea what kind they are? We didn’t touch them, but they were too pretty to not take a picture of!

IMG_2183

We live in one of the most beautiful places, don’t we? This is literally 5 mins from my door. I LOVE British Columbia!

IMG_2184

We went to one of the many parks around our house and I watched Josiah climb this thing over and over and over. Every time he did it, I would panic a little (after all he’s only 3), but this kid is part goat (ha ha ha) and has been climbing since he was very little and hardly EVER falls….and so I try not to freak out and wrap him in bubble wrap and keep him tied into the buggy sitting beside me….

I forgot to put shoes on Judah and he was going all howler monkey on me at being stuck in the stroller and so I just let him play in the rocks……

Those rocks…….GROSS! Judah was FILTHY when I picked him up to walk back home. He looked like he was a powdered doughnut….only covered in dirt and dust and who knows what other filth. So disgusting! But he enjoyed himself and that’s what’s important, right???? I’m still not so sure of that, but oh well!

I also find that the days we go out for walks….the kids sleep SO MUCH BETTER! Case in point…..

IMG_2197

We had sat down to watch a quick video before bedtime and within 5 minutes of snuggling with daddy he was GONE! I love it when bedtime is that easy.

On Friday, my brother came over to finish my hallways and stairs, and Daisy and Max came for a quick visit too….I love sleeping babies….probably because mine hardly ever sleeps…..

IMG_2199

and with that…..we’re finished this session of Round Up!

Ponder Park Adventure

Yesterday morning, Jon and Geli had to be at BC Children’s Hospital at 8am…..this meant they had to leave our house at 6:30am……YUCK!!

We (Myself, Xandra, Jeremy, Siah and Judah) packed up and headed out to my sister’s house. They’ve just bought an acreage and it’s an unbelievably gorgeous piece of property and when they are done remodeling…it’s going to be an even more amazing home!

We decided to walk the pipeline in the park close to their house and if all went well, we should end up at a little creek where the kids could puddle around for a little bit.

Neither Debbie nor I had ever done this exact “walk” and yet we decided to take 5 children and one double runner stroller…..I’m not exactly certain what we were thinking and yet off we went.

We reached the park and then headed down the path. There were SO MANY berries and the kids were in heaven picking and eating…the huckleberries and salmon berries were delicious. We reached a fork in the road and veered to the right and headed into the tall grass. After about 2 minutes, we reached the pipeline.

By this point we were 4×4’ing with the buggy and I was just glad that it was a jogging stroller because there was not way that a regular stroller would have handled the grass or the uneven ground. As we looked ahead, we saw a hill sloping downward….

IMG_2021

That hill sloping away from me…..that the kids are running down…..that was just the small hill….it got worse, much worse!

There was a second much steeper hill, that I never ended up getting a picture of, because it required both Debbie and myself to hold to buggy. At one point, I looked up the hil behind us and commented on the whole “if we are going down we are gonna have to go back up and how bad that was gonna suck” business! But, we could see the creek and we were so close and so we carried on.

Of COURSE we wore appropriate foot wear……

IMG_2024

Here we are at the bottom of the hill. The boys laughed and giggled the whole way down the hill….

IMG_2026

Jeremy was the first one to get in the creek and everyone else followed quickly after. The water was FREEZING!!!!! Like, actual pain, hurt your feet freezing, but the little babies, didn’t seem to care…they just wanted to get into the water and to play with the mud…

IMG_2028

This little one was more interested in balancing on the rocks and trees than actually getting into the water…..at one point he fell and scratched his leg and then showed me the scratch and told me that the fish had bitten him….it was pretty cute.

IMG_2029

Diesel (the dog) was so funny. She kept sticking her head completely under the water and picking up rocks that were bigger than grapefruits and pulling them out of the water….at one point Jack decided to throw her a stick…

IMG_2042

So of course he had to pick up the largest stick the he could find…..

IMG_2043

He is just SO CUTE, isn’t he?

IMG_2046

The littlest boys were in HEAVEN playing in the mud…..

IMG_2049

Judah would FLIP OUT anytime I tried to remove him from the mud. This is the little boy who will settle instantly if you take him outside or put him in a bath….this combines the best of both….outside and in the water….

IMG_2056

The creek is in the bottom of a…….valley? There are two steep grassy hills on either side of the creek. This is the hill of the other side of the creek – the side we did not walk up or down…purdy, ain’t it?

IMG_2060

Here is shot of the creek……this is such a pretty, pretty area.

IMG_2061

We stopped playing long enough to have quick snack break….those dairy-free, gluten-free oreo type cookies are sure delicious and the extra sand and mud makes them even more delicious….

IMG_2070

Then we packed everything up and took a look up the hill….here is a god shot of it….can you see Josiah in the bottom left corner….yah, it was pretty huge. And after this hill……there is a second one to climb…

IMG_2074

We started out with both Debbie and I pushing the buggy together and that worked for a bit, but then it got difficult and Judah started screaming and the wheels kept turning around and wouldn’t lock still and I got tired and Debbie ended up wrapping the dog leash around the front bar on the buggy and pulling while I pushed….We had many rest breaks and at the top of that hill that I showed you….Josiah sat down and refused to go any further.

IMG_2076

On the trip up the first hill, he had been hanging off my back pockets and the buggy and whatever else he could find to get some help to get up the big hill and he was officially POOPED! I didn’t blame him and yet we were already pushing 50 pounds of baby up the hill added on top of the buggy and I didn’t need to carry another 40 pounds of Siah on top of that.

Aunty Debbie lured him up the second hill with promises of a piggy back ride once we reached the top….and HE MADE IT.

We finally made it back to Debbie’s house and had some lunch and then packed everyone up to head home.

On the way home, my little man fell asleep. He climbed the hill, but the hill won!

IMG_2078

I tried for about 5 minutes to get him to wake up and that was not happening. He was SO tired! And so I let him sleep.

It was a great adventure but I don’t think we’ll be taking the buggy back down to the creek any time soon…or ya know…like EVER!

You can see more pictures from our great adventure here!

Barf’tastic

My Sweet Siah came home from a sleepover….

He started complaining about his tummy hurting and he seemed quite unsettled and not his usual chipper self.

He managed to hold on for about half an hour after being dropped of and then……he barfed all over the floor.

AWESOME!

He’s now rockin’ himself a fever and sleeping over at Nana’s house.

Sick boy

It sucks to see your babies not feeling well. It especially sucks when you are trying to keep one baby safe while the other baby is not well….

It’s a good chance that this is what Judah had the other week but who knows….and we have no idea if Geli has immunity to it or not.

And so he’s over at Nana’s getting lots of cuddles and sleeping and eating ice chips…..Thank God for Nanas….they are pretty special…..and they have tiny mice friends!

How Low Can You Go

Jon and Geli went in to BC Children’s Hospital today for her last dose of chemo in this intensive phase of treatment.

Let’s pause for a moment and celebrate………WOO HOO! This is an amazing thing. It’s been such a very long tough year and although we are not quite finished this phase yet….we are so SO close!

DSC_0016

Siah playing with the hose at my parents place!

Alrighty, now back to the matter at hand….in the normal fashion, they did blood work on Angelica and it came back…..well it came back not so good.

Her White Blood Count was at a .3
Her Hemoglobin was 79
Her Platelets were at a 44

This means that the infection fighting cells are almost non-existent. YIKES! And so at this exact moment, we are asking for prayer that Angelica would not pick up ANY bacteria and that she would remain fever free. Yesterday was the nadir from the last ARA-C dose and while we had hoped that she’d not drop any lower than she was last Friday, it looks as if she has….even if by just a point.

Sometimes that hose shoots out faster than you are expecting

We are praying that her counts are now heading up.

We are desperately hoping to avoid a hospital stay this time around.

Geli’s appointment today was scheduled for this afternoon and as a result it was almost to late for her to get a unit of red blood before the clinic closed. Seeing as her hemoglobin was borderline, we are happy to have her not get the red because getting the red almost guarantees her a fever when her counts are this low.

So, we wait for Thursday, when her counts “should” be heading back up, and we will do another blood test then.

So Much Fun!

Please pray that she would stay healthy and not pick up any bugs.
Please pray for her counts to come up rapidly.
Please pray for the entire family to be at peace. We are hanging in there, but just barely. Everyone is feeling the strain of this past year and we are extremely ready for some down time.
