You Are Beautiful. When my daughter went through cancer treatments, a huge portion of our family shaved our heads in solidarity. I didn’t hesitate for one minute and went first, asking her to shave my head before her hair even fell out. It was SO important to me that the message I sent to my daughter is that beauty isn’t defined by how we look but by who we are. That our beauty is in our strength and it’s in our compassion. I was asked if I could paint this picture. I said yes and then freaked out. All my insecurities started screaming at me. Shame said, “Who are you kidding? You’re not an artist!” Fear said, “What if…..what if it doesn’t turn out? What if they don’t like it? What if you can’t do it? What if you fail?” And my heart said, “Just do it. Try! You might not be perfect, but you don’t have to be. Perfection is not the goal. Creating a feeling, is! Creating the opportunity to hold an emotion, is! And so I did it. Every piece I do is better than the last…..if my art speaks to you in some way…..it’s fulfilled its purpose. I went for a second float tonight at the @floathousefortlangley . It was just as incredible as the first time. I was nervous that the relaxation that I felt the first time was a placebo effect…..but nope….those 90 mins are like a reset for my body and mind. Once again, I focused on my breathing, greeted thoughts as they came and allowed them to float past.
