So, this post is the equivalent of me sticking my fingers in my ears and singing, “la la la la la la la” really loud. Things are not really great, but they’re not really horrible, and right now I don’t want to talk about it so…..yah….anyhoooooo……
I said that I had some things that I had been working on to show you, and here is the first of them….
I wish I could bottle up his giggles, they make everything disappear for one moment.)

This little hat knits up really quickly and requires only that you know how to knit and to purl. I managed to knit this up over 2 days and I am NOT the worlds fastest knitter. I think I used size 7 needles and this is a wool that I picked up from Michaels….none of that is very exciting at all, is it?

I like to have a fun, simple, not time critical, knitting project that I can just work on whenever, because I can take it with me in the car and knit while we drive….well, while Jon drives. Although, I’ve not been out a lot recently and man, has that ever cut into my knitting time.

If you are interested in knitting this hat, just google “Pixie Hat Pattern” and there are TONS of links for this hat. Oh, and Judah is HUGE and is typically wearing between 12-24 month sizes and I used 62 stitches instead of the 50 that the pattern calls for.
I added a brim to the bottom edge which is amazing because it comes down and keeps his neck nice and snugly warm even if there is a gap between his shirt and his coat. I also used a snap closure because I didn’t want to be dealing with any strings.
This would make a great gift for a cute baby in your life, don’t you think? And, it is super stretchy and Josiah can fit this, and well, honestly Geli can get it on her head, but it’s a bit too short and doesn’t cover up to her face like it should…..I do have another one on the go, in pink, and I’m using around 100 stitches. If it works out size wise, then I plan to add a really LOOOONG braid to the bottom with tassles at the end. It should look darling on Geli or Xani….I may even end up having to make 2, because they’ve both expressed an interest in having one of their own.

Just for fun, what is one of your favorite memories of Christmas?
Waking up super early to just look at the stocking (cause we had to wait till 7AM) and then all going in to one of our rooms to open them. (Now a parent, I realize how brilliant that sock of fun was.It added an hours sleep to our parents morning.)
You got that right….. I LOVED ALL THE SNEAKING AROUND YOU ALL DID.. I WAS ALWAYS AWAKE! I LOVED LISTENING TO YOU OPENING YOUR STOCKINGS AND THE TOGETHERNESS; THE SHARING OF EACH WONDER AND GIFT. I LOVED HEARING, I GOT AN ONION? WHAT DID YOU GET….I GOT A POTATO… LIKE THAT WAS SOMETHING REALLY IMPORTANT…. THAT CAME FROM DAD’S SIDE…. GRANDMA K. I THINK. I had never heard of it. And the little boxes of cereal… well they helped to fill those big stockings and also… you would go eat them so we didn’t have to plan a breakfast too early … at least until everyone was up and the day had begun….Christmas was always so much fun.
My favorite Christmas memory was when I woke up on Christmas and because everyone was asleep, being me I sat down on the couch and waited, and waited, and waited. At one point I almost fell asleep. The earliest we could wake up Mom and Dad was 7:00 and that was what I thought the clock had said but it actually said 1:00……… SO I had been awake since 1:00.

my favourite christmas memory is Just mommy and me, nobody else. Just the two of us decorating the tree and room with decoration. no one else was around. In my childhood Mommy and i rarely did anything together but this christmas as a young child about 10 years old we did something special together. It was always daddy and me doing things together cause daddy was retired when i was little and mommy always going to work. the only christmas decoration i have in my apt today is the santa clause we had when i was small. it must have been made before i was born. that is all i have from my childhood memory. that is all i need for my apt. It was not the presents that was special, it was doing something together with the person you love, my mommy. Merry Christmas Patti and family.
Oh Judah, my little precious…. you are soooo adorable… and even more so in person… Nana Karen just think you are beautiful. xoxo the pictures are so good, Patti…. he is yummy!
I dunno. We wake up, have to wait ’till 7ish to wake up mum and dad (though this year I hope i can sleep in a little) we open stockings, then we have to get dressed and ready, then we eat breakfast (the small Kellogs’ cereals), then we can open presents. We each grab a space and dad hands out the presents. Then we clean up and play with the toys. Somewhere in between X-mas eve and boxing day we have X-mas dinner with Nana and Papa Culley (last year it was a fondue (yummm)), and the Kennedy Christmas (mostly a potluck(with TURKEY!!!!!(my favourite of all meals ever)) where everyone brings something), with all of everyone (though there isn’t usually much to do, xan and the girls always play pretend, and jer’s usually off on his own, the adults are usually tooo buisy talking or in the middle of a game, so it’s wait and try to round up some people to play a board game with (usually kinda hard, round up some people, a game ends, some people still want to play, some change their mind,) I usually end up just sitting and listening or play on my iPod). Usually we went to Aunty Debbie’s house, but I dunno what we’re gunna do this year. We might go to Nana Karen’s, or it might be here.
I LOVE JUDAH!! And that hat is so sweet.
Favorite Christmas memory: we always opened our presents on Christmas Eve…it was fun! I can’t wait to create some memories with my kids. I love the stocking idea.
Oops, i forgot. we always open a present on x-mas eve. (usually pjs)
my favorite childhood christmas memories are ..being woken up @ 3am(ususally) with my brother tipp toeing into my room with our stockings…..then we would quietly kill 4 hours….the longest 4 hours of my life…christmas was extra special to me as a child becasue it was the one day of the year we laughed and enjoyed ourselves as a family…..I came from a very dysfuncial family full of abuse and addiction…..today my favorite christmas memories are making new christmas memories with my family…new tradtions as well….I am so thankful for the birth of Jesus….if it were not for God’s love and gift to us I would not be where i am today…I cherish Christmas…..and my family….

LOVE Judah and his hat!
My favorite Christmas memory is one that was related to me by my parents. I was too young to remember. We used to attend Christmas Eve services at the Air Force Academy chapel – the famous one in all the pictures – because my Dad was an instructor there. So we were there one Christmas Eve when I was probably about 5 and my brother was 3. Being such a landmark the chapel was, of course, packed to the gills and, apparently, very hot. The pastor gave this sermon (a very long sermon) which he kept punctuating with “HE IS COMING!” Finally, when he said it for the fourth or fifth time, my brother loudly whined to my paernts “WELL, WHEN IS HE GOING TO GET HERE?” Totally awesome.
Wishing you all some sweet Christmas moments.
My favorite Christmas memory was when I spent it with your family and you surprised me by bringing Syd out to your mom and dads. This was our very first Christmas together and that was 14 years ago. Thanks to the Kennedy’s for the great memories. We still talk about it to this day. Love you all
Merry Christmas Patti and Jon and family. May all the family have another day to richly cherished memory. More wonderful pictures for you to take to add the book of memories. You are an awesome photograher, very gifted. Praying next year will be an easier year for you. love Debra
