And It All Comes Crashing Down

So much for my “taking it easy….”

I think that today is making up for every bit of relaxing time I was trying to squish out of the past few days.

I have more things to try and accomplish than I possibly have time for, and now it’s just a matter of which ones are not going to get done.

I’d make a list here, but for some reason it helps for me to have it listed in pencil on a sheet of paper that I can carry around with me (I don’t need to refer to the paper once I’ve written it down, but for some reason it just helps me to write it down – it’s like it cements it in the ol’ sieve I call my brain these days steel vault…..I know, I know – a bit weird, but then I’ve never said thatI’m completely normal.

Speaking of which……do you have any little obsessive things that you do?  Like do you have to have the toilet paper coming over the top of the roll as opposed to just throwing it on there or * gasp * even worse putting it on so that the paper comes from under * oh the horror *  or how about lining up your cans inside your cupboard so that they all face out and stack up perfectly and equal distance from each other in nice neat little rows, or………folding your towels and having to place them in order from the biggest on the bottom to the smaller ones on the top of the pile…..or aranging your DVD’s in alphabetical order on the shelf  or lining up the library books that are stacked on the hall table to be returned in order from smallest to largest……..not that I’m admitting to any of this, you know, but someone out there might do stuff like this………….right??????

So, what do you do that makes you weird…, I mean quirky…, I mean special and unique?

Takin’ it Easy

I’ve been trying desperately hard to take a few down days….it’s sorta working…..really..that just means that I’ve not gotten anything done, and that’s a crappy feeling.  EXCEPT, that I’m not stressing out quite so bad about all the “things” I have to do.  Everythings still there, but I’m just happily ignoring it all for a bit.  That will only work for so long.

I will be spending a good part of tomorrow planning out the res of my week, and I’ll be back with oodles and oodles of stories to share.

Josiah is SO CLOSE to rolling over, and he’s laughed for us, but I want to catch it on video…it’s funny ’cause he almost sounds annoyed….it’s pretty cute.

Be back soon(er)……..as opposed to later.

“Caption This”………and other crap

I took this picture last night while Jon and ‘Siah were playing on the TV room floor.   Everytime I look at it I see another “caption” , so I thought we’d play a little game.

What would YOU caption this picture with?

And now for the “other crap………..”

Xandra’s glasses just popped off her head last Saturday and threw themselves onto the kitchen floor in a fit of rage.  So we had to make an “emergency trip” into Langley to the nearest “Lenscrafters” and picked up these beauties.

Just in case you can’t tellthe difference between these ones and her other ones…. (don’t you all pay close attention to the eyeware of my second child?!?!?!?!)

Her last pair was red, and rectangular.  These ones are black on the outside, pink on the inside, and more oval-ish than rectangular……She’s just so cute, and thanks to the Healthy Kids program – the glasses only cost us $45 dollars.  Amazing, eh?

I’m totally jealous as I’ve had the same pair of glasses in the time she’s run through 4 pairs, but I’m hoping that I’ll be getting a new pair in the spring after I have my next eye exam.  Sounds thrilling, doesn’t it?  Aren’t you glad I shared that sweet bit of info with you.

And one last bit of crap to throw at you (ha ha ha ha ha, I crack myself up.  I’m easily amused, can’t you tell?)

Do you have any idea what happens when you put a bar of Ivory soap into the microwave?

No?

I didn’t either until Monday afternoon.

I’ve been looking into health(y)ier alternative’s to chemical cleaners for both the house and body.  There is a lot you can do with baking or washing soda and vinegar….both very safe, and quite cheap…..and I LOVE ME SOME CHEAPNESS!

I came across this recipe for liquid hand soap.

It calls for a bar of Ivory soap (I believe it’s the smaller bars) and 3 cups of water, a pot and some essential oils.

I only had a larger bar of Ivory, but  figured “What the heck!  More is better, right?

I also figured that instead of “shaving it” to melt it down like it says to, that I’d just leave it in one lump and……

……instead of cooking it on a pot in the stove, I figured that I’d just huck it in a measuing cup with some water in it, to melt it down.

I wasn’t following the recipe AT ALL………so basically I was following a recipe for a disaster.

I put the measuring cup with 3 cups of water in it, and the large bar of Ivory soap into the microwave, and turned it on maximum power for 5 minutes.  I figured that I’d check on it after a few minutes, as give it a quick stir or flip the bar over or something…..’cause seriously, what could go wrong.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!  Famous Last Words.  This is what I opened up the door to after 3 1/2 minutes.

At least it didn’t all blow up inside the microwave….It foamed up hard, and crawled up and over the edge of the measuring cup and over and down on to the plate, and kept on going.

The kids were thrilled with my science experiment, and Jeremy wanted to stick it back in and make it foam some more.  I wasn’t sure it could be salvaged, so I didn’t want to put it back in anymore. It was hard, and crumbled easily so I dumped the water and what was left of the soap bar  into a larger container, and then crumbled the foam into the bowl.

Long story short, IT WORKED!I have enough mixture for 2 containers of liquid hand soap that smells like lavender Ivory soap.  It’s quite thick, and works wonderfully.

So, that’s enough with the rambling for now….don’t forget to caption the picture of Josiah.

ps. Sorry if you got a million copy’s of this post.  I was having some “issues” with spacing and kept trying to fix them…all the while thinking that I would be annoying some of you….if you were annoyed – I’m terribly sorry, and if you have no clue what I’m talking about……..just go on with your day and have a nice life.

So Long and Good Riddance

No, I don’t actually mean that.

I’m going to a Ladies Retreat this weekend.  Just me and 70 other women, and Josiah……..

And no House Cleaning or making meals or co-ordinating peace talks between the monsters masses….

I’m almost, sort of excited….except that I have to schlepp 50 kerbillion tons of diapers and clothes and blankets and everything else baby related with me…..that’s on top of all my stuff.

I’m actually taking a HUGE monster sized suitcase, just one, and it has ALL of our stuff it.

So, Bonus Points for me for thinking that even though it’s ENORMOUS…..I only have one bag, and one bag means WAY LESS trips back and forth from the van to the room.

See, I’ve got my thinking cap on.

Jon’s at home with the 3 older ones, and if you think about him laugh, and then think about me and cry, ’cause I’ll probably come home to what looks like a war ravaged excuse for a house…..although the kitchen should be clean ’cause Jon’s OCD takes over and he can’t make a meal or do ANYTHING if the kitchen is messy.

The rest of the house can be blown apart, but if the kitchen’s clean he doesn’t even see anything else.

It actually works well for us ’cause I don’t mind the rest of the house, but I HATE CLEANING THE KITCHEN.

We’re a good team, but……….

Babe, could you make the monsters House Cleaning Fairies clean the rest of the house before I come  home on SUNDAY AFTERNOON AROUND 3PM…..I’ll even call first to give you warning…..PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESE!

Escaping It All

So, I’ve shared that I’m feeling slightly overwhelmed with this “CRAZY” thing I call my life….so rather than actually sit down and “deal” with some of what what have I done….

Well, this is what I looked like yesterday morning…..

Long Hair
My Hair was long and curly and Loooooooooong……really long, and all one color.  I’ve not really done much with my hair over the past year or so….the last haircut I got was in February….since them I ‘ve just hacked into it myself, and well I got sick of it. Mostly because with Josiah all I do is put it up in a clip or ponytail, and well….that just sucks.I went to see my sister’s hairdresser because Debbie has absolutley ROCKED her haircuts for the past year or so…not that she didn’t always look good, but her hair dresser is the BOMB.

Diana at Prism in Langley…..she is amazing!  Go forth and find her…..seriously, you won’t be disappointed.  She did an amzing job.

Here is what I look like now….

And the side view…..see the pretty colors….

And from the back……I love it….although I think I’m going to ask for it to be even a little shorter at the back next time.

Oh, and this is just an extra shot for no other reason than when I down loaded it off my camera I said, “WOW  I actually have cheekbones……..thanks to my Momma for those…..I don’t usually see them quite so clearly defined….maybe it’s the new hair cut that just really brings them out.

A HUGE SHOUT OUT to Diana.  I LOVE IT.  YOU ARE AMAZING.

Abandonment

I’ve not abandoned you all.  I promise.

I’ve got to get on here and update you all on Halloween and our decision to “make” costumes this year, as well as talk about Josiah turning 12 weeks last Saturday, and 3 months old on Sunday and having his 2 month appointment today and how FREAKIN’ ENORMOUS he is…….

AND, I’m struggling with trying to be SUPERMOM.

I’m not super mom and I know it, just in case you thought I was really that misguided, but I am feeling utterly overhwhelmed.  Not to the point that I’m diving off the edge of a cliff or rocking in a corner with my hands over my ears singing, “na na na na na na” over and over.

I just need to STOP and MAKE SOME TIME to figure out the priorities in my life.  BUTI’MSOBUSYTRYINGTODOEVERYTHING,THATTOSTOPANDFIGUREIT
ALLOUT ….would mean that I’d have to actually “STOP” and figure it all out…..and who has time for that, really?

I’m working on it………sort of!

Go look at my pictures over at Flickr and see how cute the kiddo’s were.

And Josiah…..isn’t he a doll?
